I think that people should concider the co-operative model of a business. During this recession, people are going to want to stay at home more, and spend less. I want to start a Bulk Food Co-Op, which will help people live a more simple, frugal life.

The BC Food Co-Op is an organization of volunteers that comes together once a month to purchase natural and organic food and items at discounted prices. Members pay a one time fee to join, and an annual fee for a catalog subscription. Everyone contributes to the success of the co-op by placing orders on time, making sure the splits are full, arriving on time for pick up, and performing a job during pick up which may be unloading the truck, distributing food, childcare and cleanup. Basically, they build and tear down a grocery store in one hour.

I am also thinking about a co-op that enables budding entrepreneurs to experiment with their business ideas while benefiting from a secure income and supportive environment. A Business Co-Operative could be marketed to graduates of MBA Programs, and those self made millionaires, who together, can make a team with the book smarts, the street smarts, and the capital required to get rich fast. This co-op could spend lots of money and have members who live in a mansion with a maid, or it could be only a modest building where the biggest priority is making money together while living frugally. The income that the co-op makes could be split equally among the members of the co-op, or in other ways. Those with money would buy themselves in and be the ones who would select the graduates (or other entreprenuers who didn't learn through graduate school) who apply or are nominated to join.

Im still brainstorming, does anyone have any ideas?
