Hi everyone,
I'm looking for feedback on an idea:
What's the problem?
I'm an avid user of both Evernote and mindmapping tools such as x-mind, however I often struggle to visualise the connections between different aspects of complex projects.
Because of this, I often see myself repeating the same work within evernote and xmind just to keep track of things.
In my place of work there is often a lot of data and planning information stored in simple folder directories on a shared system. It is often extremely difficult to locate the correct information. It is also often the case that you are simply not aware that work has already been done on something. Being able to visually see the connections would go a long way to resolve this.
While better discipline and internal processes would go a long way, I'm looking for a more complete, better fitting solution and cannot find one.
Target Market
I see this being targeted at a market that has to deal with complex large scale projects. Engineers and engineering students particularly come to mind (being the former myself).
The proposed solution
My idea is to produce an online mapping tool to store note-like objects in a visible network.
In a nutshell - Evernote crossed with x-mind.
You will be able to create notes, add things like images, data files, to do lists, and web clippings, then add them to a "web" of other notes.
This way you can easily keep track of the information you have collected and see it at a first glance.
The improved capacity for organisation and facilitating the act of easily storing and finding information should be valuable for more complex projects.
All feedback on the idea is welcome, I am aware of a number of competitors in this space (x mind, mind meister, etc).
Do you think this idea has potential?
