In digital media, there is a concept called "advertising royalties. What this means is that a brand/icon (aka. Martha Stewart for Housekeeping/Cooking, Ryan Seacrest for general entertainment, Tiki Barber for football/athletics) will provide a piece of content may it be an article, video, or webinar to an advertising platform (think Yahoo and the other millions of digital news sites/blogs) and a percentage any revenue that is driven off of that “property” through advertising campaigns (impressions on banner ads, etc.) is given to the brand/icon as a royalty fee.
I think there is a potential opportunity to connect brands/icons with advertising platforms to 1) drive both revenue and brand awareness for the brands/icons 2) drive revenue and credibility for the advertising platform. This would decrease the amount of sales people on the ad platform's part needed to go out and find potential partnerships and provide a single stop and shop resource for businesses to figure out how they can drive revenue and brand awareness. This means the site would be partitioned into verticals (cooking, health, athletics, etc.).
Basically I’m thinking of a business that would connect these parties (potentially through a lead-gen type website/software) generating either a “connection fee” or grabbing a commission off of the revenue generated. Problems would include competitive issues, etc, but could be ironed out.
Thoughts? Not sure if there would be demand for this in the market, would to talk to partnership managers on the front lines.
Edit: it would probably be more feasible for mid-tier brands/icons than the top of the top guys
