Contacting Manufacturers - How to keep track?

Over the last week, I have been contacting manufacturers and received multiple replies. I am starting to get a little overwhelmed with all the different contacts. There are some I don't need to talk to anymore and some I need to continue conversing with.

I was going to start keeping track of them in excel but that seemed clunky. How do others do it?
