Hi guys - haven't posted in this area of the forum yet as I've been reading process threads and I'm ready to start taking action.
I've had a few product ideas in mind and I've set my sites on one I want to move forward with.
The main thing I want to do is test demand. I'm 98% sure this product doesn't exist (it is a variation/addition/improvement to an exiting product), and the modification is not extremely drastic, but would change functionality.
For people that have gone this path before did you move forward with a sketch of your product and provisional patent it, get a prototype manufactured, provisional patent it, and then test demand? Or create an electronic mockup and see how many "pre-orders" I can collect. The product wouldn't cost much, so not sure people would pre-order this type of thing.
All in all - wondering the best way to test demand of an "improvement to an existing product" - before or after a prov. patent?
