Hey good evening. I have been a long time member/ lurker but rarely post. The couple times i did, i received a lot of good advice.
I currently own a small junk removal and landscaping business. Although i am surviving and paying all my bills etc, i am just miserable! I have been in and out of this business for 10 years and it feels like a curse! It beats any job i have had in the past by a long run. But i never even wanted to become a big company. It was supposed to be a means to an end until i could invest or start a different business. Problem is i never have time to focus on anything else or study/start up.i am constantly marketing, doing estimates, physically working, managing my guys...it is exhausting.
I am grateful for what and who i have in my life. But i just feel stuck. Even when i hit a big achievement like landing a big job or getting a new truck or equipment, i am still not happy. I have moved about an hour away from my hometown and family. Although it isn't really far, the loneliness is definately there. It has its benefits but i think about moving back to my hometown frequently...my support system there is huge.
I am thinking of just quitting and living off of my saving while working on a new business, or get a job while working on my new business. I am just about to hit my 2 year mark and will qualify for a home( my dream). But man i hate this damn business. My love life sucks, i never do anything cool or really see my friends or family. All i have been doing is working my a$$ off and getting drunk in my off time. I don't have nearly as much to show for as i should for the amount of work i out in.
I am in the middle of one of the biggest jobs i have ever done and i don't even really care. My employees are constantly giving me a hard time and driving me crazy. I am thinking to just sell all of my trucks and my equipment so i do not have a choice to back out. I would be all in into my real estate business and studies. If i need a job or money it will always be there if i fail at my new venture.
I am just so tired of being the angry, depressed, bitter guy all the time. I kind of hate who i have become and am willing to do anything to change. I have recently quit drinking although struggling. If i sell everything. I will have about 20k liquid, and i have friends who could give me day work or a job if i really wanted. I want to sell everything so i dont always have that fall back plan or a plan B. I would be all in, into my new ventures. Thanks for any advice in advance.
