Hey everyone, it's Alexis Autotte.
Yesterday, I attended a call with Brandon Carter and Derek MoneyBerg, two entrepreneurs based in Miami, Florida. I joined their free webinar where they discussed money, the mindset of wealth, and how being surrounded by "thousand-aires" won’t help you become a millionaire.
At the end of the webinar, they offered a course for $97 USD. I paid that amount and filled out a form and contract to get a text message for an interview. When I received the call, the person on the line asked me to watch an hour-long video. In this video, MoneyBerg gave a lot of tough love, stating that if I don’t enroll in the course, I’ll remain in mediocrity, what we call the "Slowlane" here. He also emphasized his commitment to helping me reach the top.
I watched the entire video and then saw that the course cost $5,000 USD. This amount is almost half of my current savings. Now, here’s my situation: I’m currently unemployed, not making money, and running my 3D model marketplace, ModelForge. But recently, I’ve realized that success isn’t just about building a great product it's about the connections you make. That’s something MoneyBerg also mentions in his video. He points out that things that are free often aren’t taken seriously, which I find to be good advice.
However, the $5,000 fee gives me pause. I have no guarantee that I’ll make that money back. While the course could potentially help me turn $5k into $100k with my marketplace, I don’t yet have concrete proof that I can generate $5k quickly.
I’ve also read some reviews on Reddit where people claim that Derek MoneyBerg is a scammer, repackaging free content from websites like Investopedia and charging $5k for it.
Before I went to bed last night, I felt anxious and uncertain about this decision. It’s a big step either it’ll make me broke or provide me with the knowledge and connections to build my business to the next level.
So here I am, weighing the pros and cons:

So here I am, weighing the pros and cons:
Pros:
- I could gain access to a mentor and valuable connections to help grow my 3D model marketplace.
- I could be surrounded by like-minded people.
- The $5k could potentially turn into $100k with my website.
- A mentor could help me avoid costly mistakes in business.
- The idea that the right mentor can help you achieve more than figuring things out on your own makes sense to me.
- The course is expensive, costing more than half of my savings.
- The $97 payment feels like a classic marketing tactic to get you to commit, only to ask for more later.
- The sales pitch was anxiety-inducing. MoneyBerg pushed hard on FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), implying that if you don’t take the course, you’ll remain in mediocrity.
- He claims to dislike "get rich quick" schemes, but his presentation heavily featured images of women in bikinis, private jets, and mansions, which feels hypocritical to me.
- I have no idea if I'm truly commited 100 % since I do my Roblox games and youtube videos on the mean time
