Hello everyone. I am slowly inching myself closer and closer to launching my own product. I have recently purchased and read Walter Hay's book on importing from china. It is a very good book and well worth the money. But this book also brought a lot of things to my attention about importing. And now I'm getting confused. I am having trouble with the actual importing part. Like with all the documents, regulations, labels I have to put together to bring the product to the U.S.
I have been thinking about paying a freight forwarder but I'm not sure which company to go with.
Now the other problems I am currently facing is with a manufacturing side. I already found a company that can make the product I want. But before I throw money at the manufacture I want to learn how to write a sales agreement. I don't know a damn thing about contracts and the fact that I am dealing with a Chinese manufacture doesn't help. After watching a few youtube videos I got a good understanding of what they are and how to write one, but I don't really have confidence in myself to write it. I don't even have a clue on how to use it as leverage to get the manufacturer to comply or if they would even care to obey it.
On the designing end I kind of have the same problem as in the manufacturing end. I already drew up some crud concepts. But I think I should outsource the design aspect. I want to make a contract so the person I hire doesn't screw/sue me because I forgot to state clearly in a contract that my company will own the design. Also is it a good idea to put dimensions onto the product design?
Man I feel so lost now. I am stuck and I am not sure what to do. I just need to be pointed in the right direction. If this isn't a high barrier to entry I don't know what is.
