When my wife and I were first getting involved in rental houses we could not believe or understand that people would give us money each month to live in a house they do not own. We bought our first property and more since then.
We learned that we were imposing our beliefs, customs, and values on our expectations. In other words, we had not rented since we were in our college years and we couldn't imagine doing it again except very short term. We save money and invest and expect that our norm is everyone else's norm. In reality we know better but this limitation has an effect on our future investment decisions. We constantly have to remind ourselves to think like the customer not like ourselves when we are trying to make good business decisions.
Now, for various reasons, we are venturing into internet marketing and all the new research tools are amazing. We are looking into different niche markets and here comes the mental limitations again. Kinda like "If we don't do X then why would anyone else do X?"
Does anyone else have this limitiation and any suggestions to consistently overcome it.
