I guess it's never too late to become a business owner
I was born poor and managed to rise to a good earning wage as a developer. I worked for 11 companies (big and small), in 3 different countries for 2 distinct industries, before finally creating my own company: QuickMail.io (funny thing as I'm discovering this website, many people already mentioned my product here in the past!)
I do love working, always have been a high achiever (and a pain to manage). Now I'm totally unemployable, business owner ruined the employee's experience for me
I picked up MJ's book for fun recently on people's recommendations (FastLine Millionaire). Although I didn't learn that much because I'm already on the fastlane, I can tell people that it's pretty accurate. Good job summarising it all.
No flashy car for me, I really don't care about these. I live a nice life flying under the radar and wear jeans with holes (cause I don't care about fashion either).
When there is no C0VlD-19, you find me 2 months a year in Japan where I enjoy amazing food on a daily basis while working on my venture.
This year, my project is a youtube channel to share some of the things I learned (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAMn2osCNhN28MCm4TjH0lA). Since my hobby is about making videos, I had to do something to justify all my equipment
I remember how frustrated I was getting as a slow lane traveler despite my high achievements. Just remember that as an employee, you'll always be considered as expenses and the goal of a business is to increase revenues AND reduce expenses.
If you are in this situation, keep faith, it's never too late to start your own business. It took me about 8 months to rewire my mind. I woke up daily at 4am to work 2 hours on my venture before heading to work. It was hard but that was well worth. Plus having a limited time to work on your business forces you to drop all the BS and works on things that really matter.
I'm not on the fastest lane possible, but I do enjoy life very much.
Curious to see what everyone is about here and let me know if I can help you with anything.
