Age 22 and live in Michigan
My goal is not to become the richest baddest person in the US, I do not desire to become rich or have lots of money.
In fact, if I could get the basic necessities without money and do it in a legal way, I'd do it. No one ever needed money until mankind invented it.
My personal basic necessities - food, health, shelter, girlfriend, freedom, freedom from debt, water, air, sunshine, friends and family. And maybe a small percentage - entertainment every once in a while.
What I DO desire - self sufficiency, off the grid, hunter and gatherer lifestyle, green lifestyle and living off nature(land), health, not relying on others for needs, financial self sufficiency, freedom, friends.
What I DO NOT desire or need - millions or billions of dollars, relying on power grid, relying on grocery stores, homelessness, fast and expensive cars, mansions and palaces, working for someone else.
My plan- to get some money, buy a small to medium sized house with cash and pay it off(NO mortgage) and buy some reasonable sized land, put some alternative energy solar panels on house or use a generator, use a electric motorcycle, buy a rainwater collector, and what ever money I have left over to give it away. By the time I finish all this, my future family and I will be nearly or entirely self sufficient.
To me, being rich and having lots of money is nothing to be proud of. Self sufficiency makes me feel accomplished and happy and proud. Entire self sufficiency is my version of what it feels like to be a millionaire -except without the actual money. You don't actually depend on anyone but nature and yourself for your needs, and it is something I'll enjoy doing without wasting my life at some dead end job being a slave to society.
Is it possible to eventually get to this point with a job and investing in the stock market, and then later quitting my job? Or would it be easier just to own a business(especially internet business) to eventually get to this point?
What may effect my plan:
My dad and mom together have amassed around $400, 000 from investing in stock market, none of them are crippled. At this moment we are trying to buy another house in Florida (with cash only) and become snowbirds to escape the weather volatility every year.
If I receive an inheritance from his earnings if he dies, it may make my plan a little easier.
