Just wondering here if anyone else has experienced this or might have feedback or even somewhere I could go to read about a little issue I cannot figure out.
Using Google Analytics to track campaigns we are currently running for one of our online stores.
It fluctuates but we average 16-20% what Analytics is telling us is "Direct Traffic"
All our campaign urls are tagged and we can clearly see where the other traffic is coming from.
We currently have 10 sources of traffic with one of those being "direct" showing in our analytics.
---------
Problem we are having now is trying to figure out which campaigns are successful and which aren't. We want to cut the losers and throw more money at the winners.
Great except 48% of all our sales are via "direct traffic"! So while we get max 20% direct traffic, overall 48% of our sales are marked direct. I would then think to check the other sources to see which one of the other 9 convert better... well... they all convert equally and offer a negative or break even ROI when each is taken at face value.
So... how would you go about figuring out which traffic source is leading to all this "direct traffic" if all the campaigns are tagged and none of the other referral conversions stand out?
How would you handle this issue?
Thanks!
