OK guys, here is recent experience in life and business I had, give me your opinions. I'm kinda lost and need outside perspective on how to look at this thing.
So I used to work in 7/11 store. Then I met some businessmen and started working with them on opening a new shop in Ireland. Thing is that we were all foreigners and everyone warned me that I will get burned by them. I didn't pay attention to that cuz I went to gain experience in business, in the trenches so to say. In 4 months I had pleasure of seeing how business works from inside, how to open a shop, how to fail at it (it is doing real poor right now, but there is still hope). I had tons of ideas but unfortunately owner didn't listen to most of them. Just some. We made some basic mistakes in selecting stock, location of store, and poor advertising strategy. Owner saw that sales are very very slow and kinda lost hope, cut my pay and hours. And started ignoring all ideas. Well, I am sure they can help.
She might do them later.
Now I have to find another job because I'm still officially unemployed and earn part-time wage (and work part-time). Guess I'm headed back for 7/11 shop.. which means pretty much humiliation and I-told-you-so-you-will-get-screwed looks and speeches from people. Got them already from family and friends. They all think I'm dumb...
I look at this as an experience of opening a new business without risking your own capital and learning from it. I did lose some money and social security benefits but I think experience will pay off in the long term.
Now looks like I'm gonna suffer the consequences of quitting on a 'safe' job and chase experience. But I'd rather hear opinion from people who are entrepreneurs than from average people.
Please be honest! Don't hold back
