Greetings Fastlaners!
I'm in a bit of a rut with a job situation and could use your advice.
Recently I was offered a sales job for a multi-billion dollar company. I get a big shiny office over-looking the downtown core, the best territory, a very attractive salary, plus commission on everything I sell. It's a steep learning curve, but there is potential to earn 100k-200k in a year.
On the other hand, I currently work for a self-made multimillionaire. He owns the most valuable billboard in the city and I am in charge of all sales and operations. I work on 100% commission. Over the last month sales been tough, but things are starting to look up again. The best part is within a year or two we will transform the billboard into the first digital board in the city, and build our own radio station (he already owns an antenna). BIG money opportunities.
So here's my pros and cons list of taking the new job...
Pros:
- Would immediately start making more money
- Potential to earn 100k-200k in a year
- "Luxury employment" (nice office, phone and gas covered)
- Nice salary to back me up if I have a bad month
- Opportunities to move up the corporate latter in a multi-billion dollar company
Cons:
- Longer hours
- Lose the opportunity to learn more under a self-made millionaire
- Sales on the billboard will take off once we go digital
- Truly enjoy my job
