Hi guys. New to the forum. I just finished MJ's book and thought I would check out the forum. I haven't spent too much time browsing yet, but I know how useful a quality forum can be.
A little about myself:
I am one semester away from graduating college with my masters degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis. I have been fortunate enough to get out of school with minimal loans. I am currently working for the summer at a fortune 500 company, but I am having a hard time buying into the 9-5 brown nose your way to the top. Everyone is miserable waiting for Friday at 5:00. I am 23 years old and do not want to waste my life in that atmosphere. The harder I work, the more money the managers and owners make. A little different than my previous business adventures.
I have been attempting to make money since I was 13 years old. My father had a vacant lot on the side of a busy highway. He loaned me $800 to make a sign to advertise parking spaces for vehicles for sale. I paid him back within a year and made money all through high school.
I worked for a landscape company through high school too. I sold and installed over priced landscape plants and trees. During college I found a place to buy landscape trees fairly close to home at 1/4 of the price of the landscape company I worked for. My vehicle rental space became my tree nursery. I engineered and built a crane that mounted on the back of an old utility trailer to move the 700+ lb trees around. I made some extra cash for two summers doing that on the weekends while I interned for a company during the week
So, that being said. I am excited for my next business attempt. I do not want to fall into the slowlane and waste it doing the 5-2 tradeoff. I hope to contribute in a positive way to the forum in the future.
