Perhaps this is one where @Vigilante or some other physical product wizard can chime in. I would more than appreciate it.
A lot of people here are active importing and reselling unbranded high margin Asian goods. I’m a fan myself, but here’s what keeps me up a night:
Instead of a niche store selling printer cables, what if you set up an online megastore with A-brand goods? E.g. you’re “The Printer Store”, you present your business as a superstore that has it all. You obviously also (up/cross)sell high margin add-ons and accessories such as toners, cables, … - where you’re importing-branding skills come in handy.
The point being that since you’re the reference for all things printers, a huge one stop shop, you end up selling a boatload more of the high-margin items.
Here’s the main question:
How does one source A-brands, ranging from Samsung laser printers to Philips electircal razors and Marshall amplifiers without stocking millions of dollars worth?
(A-brands is a translation of the term we use. If it’s called differently in English, let me know)
Is there a way, without ordering a boatload of items, to get your hands on such stock?
I noticed a local 100M+ version of Amazon repacked a printer I purchased from them, and it still had the address of the distributor on the individual box. Even a company that large didn’t stock that item apparently. Seems like they ordered it from the distributor right after I placed my order.
Note: we don’t have Amazon over here.
