As a slowlaner and a parent, I want a better life for my kid. She's 15 and never really been into school (what kid is). Although she's only in her sophmore year, she really has no ambitions to attend college. I've expressed my preference that she take at least a year or two of classes at the local JC and learn something about business and finance. Then use the remainder of her modest college savings to start a business rather than go for a degree and a lifetime of servitude to student loans, and a boss.
As most here, I've spent a substantial amount of time reading all the popular 'break free and get wealthy' texts (TAGR, 4HWW, TMND, RDPD, ..etc). It's been a while since I've read many of them, but I don't recall any really being written with teens and younger in mind. I have asked her to read my copy of TFM, but I believe some of the concepts may be beyond her understanding. Although I've tried my best to pass on what I've learned, I'm a poor representative as I am still part of the workforce (working on that now).
This may be an opportunity for someone to write something along these lines for kids and young adults. I'd do it myself as a niche but don't have the credibility to back it up. For now, is there any other recommendation for reading material tailored to them regarding entrepreneurship?
Any experience on how to guide kids into the fastlane?
Thanks all.
