Hi! I'm Keith, an 18 year old guy from singapore that has just finished junior college(the equivalent of highschool?).Making this introduction as it felt like a necessary rite of passage after reading the book haha
I just finished the "The great Rat Race Escape" and this has changed the way i view life, finances and entreprenuership forever. Im incredibly grateful for coming across this book
Im currently about to enlist into compulsory national service for 2 years and likely wont be active for this period as i will probably spend alot of time outfield, in the wild. I probably will be unable to engage in any business ventures or try starting my own company during this period but I hope to make full use of it to learn as much about business and entreprenuarship. After national service, I will be expanding on a baking business that my sister has put off for a while and hopefully grow it together. Im expecting to fail, but im still going to give my best and do everything meticulously
Before this book I was really keen into entering medicine and eventually getting rich and successful that way but i hadnt realised that that was simply another script fed to me by my family and society(study hard, get a good degree and a good job). For the past 18 years of my life i have been solely living by a script made my my society and its education system. Although im very much still interested in medicine, i have become more thoughtful and aware of the many other opportunities out there in the world and i will probably try to build meaninful successful businesses!
This book truly helped to shine light on what truly did matter to me, which was TIME. Most importantly time spent doing things i truly loved as well as time spent with loved ones.
