If you're good at selling, perhaps you could cut your teeth on this...
As of a week ago, I sell web design (my own) and lead gen (outsourced) as a solution for electricians looking for customers. For prospecting, I've tried a few methods briefly but found the most effective to be old school cold prospecting via phone. In light of this, I'd like to pose the following question to the salesmen of this forum...
How do I make a complete stranger stop what they are doing and develop enough interest in my service to buy it? I'm essentially looking for a script or something adjacent to it.
Assume for the sake of the question that the value of my product itself is skewed as far I can manage.
Right now I'm keeping it extremely simple...
Leads are simply electricians listed on google with no website. When I find them, I copy the number onto a spreadsheet.
When I call..
I introduce myself, tell them I design websites for electricians, and ask if that's something they need. About 1 in 50 people says some form of "yes."
Those people go on a separate spreadsheet after setting the appointment.
While I've sold plenty of products and services in the past (for other people)... multiple minds are greater than one and frankly... you guys are smarter than me.
What should I say to these cold prospects? What would you say? What about extending the sales cycle through follow-up?
(To clarify... I'm not looking for a magic pill that will land me business in one phone call... just a solid prospecting script and follow-up procedure to maximize my odds of landing qualified clients that my services can benefit.)
Thank you all!
