Hello Everyone.
Thank you MJ for creating this Forum and writing TMF . Life-changing.
I own 3 service-based businesses. 1 year ago before I read TMF , I was working 12 hours a day 7 days a week. After reading TMF and absorbing everything I can in this forum, I gradually built a human resource system that runs itself.
From June - Nov last year, if I wanted to, I could just work 1 hour a day and still maintain the same profit. Basically all I had to do on most days was just checking my bank accounts. Every now and then, I make sure some of my guys get enough funds to do what they have to do. It was a dream come true and I thought to myself 'I am finally fastlane'.
Until recently, everything seems to stop working. Sales was lower than expected during the past 3 months and I can't stop thinking some of my guys are doing something behind my back. Like hijack my important clients and start similar businesses. My major concern is my manager who reports directly to me. He manages all the customers, close all the sale and delegate work. My manager has been acting a bit weird recently but it could just be me being paranoid. Usually I'm pretty accurate when reading people and my gut says something is wrong.
There is nothing special about my businesses and they are not difficult to start. There are literally thousands of the exact same businesses out there. It's the automated system I put in place that made my businesses easy to scale up. My guys had a chance to closely observe how I made it possible.
These are some of the steps I took to automate the businesses:
1. Remove our phone numbers from everywhere and direct people to our websites
2. Sales team led by my manager close sales and serve customers online. Manager has close relationship with my manager to an extent where many clients refuse to accept my help and rather wait for my manager.
3. Work delegation through a cloud-based system online
I'm thinking maybe I should fire some key people and start doing everything myself again. Go back to 12 hour days. Turning my business back into a 'job in disguise'. Go back to Slowlane..
Some fastlaners here must have encountered the same problem. Some advice would be great.
Is there a way to hide part of the clients' email addresses from my staff without disrupting the whole sale/customer service process? Since my manager has close relationships with so many clients, it's easy for him to just email every client with his GMail and say something like "I'm starting my own business and I can give you XX% discounts if you come onboard..."
Help!
