OK I am going to throw this out here in an attempt to garner some sort of insight from you guys on my main roadblock to wealth.
I hear and read all the time about the biggest roadblock being 'fear of failure'. Personally I know I can achieve wealth and I actually don't fear failing. There are several reasons as to why.
A) I live in a poverty stricken state and relatively speaking I have nothing to prove to anyone in my town other than myself.
B) Family members don't look up to wealth
C) Friends like me for who I am
Now this may actually hurt my odds at ever achieving wealth. I don't think you guys understand the atmosphere I am submerged in. I am surrounded by people I used to be exactly like. I have changed. I have learned. I have seen the light lol
Here is my main fear which seems to creep up on me when I think of obtaining wealth. "Will I be alone, without friends... family members looking down on me."
Strange as it may seem, most people will envy those with money. In my case I see a complete opposite affect in the making.
Here are things I have thought about that may make things better:
1) It isn't about the money. It's about how I personally react and treat the money I obtain.
2) Who cares what others think even if it means being alone.
3) Thirdly, my fear is irrational and actually what I fear won't happen...
So my main fear is losing those I love and not of failure. I am actually in fear of succeeding, because I know I can...
Now not to sound uppity, and I am truly seeking help and reaching out to you guys so please don't take this the wrong way, but right now I have already seen signs of this because of the position my wife and I are in. We own 2 homes, have six kids, and are relatively comfortable, and in a poverty stricken area where most of the people around us are struggling, especially in this recession, it brings us a different sort of attention if you will.
Again, please don't take this wrong. I am trying to be honest with myself and the current situation and seeking advice from those who appear to be a lot more intelligent than I am.
I can, but will not, move to another state like MJ did. It probably would help in my endeavor but I have decided to take on this challenge.
So the advice I am seeking is probably more subjective. How can I get past that fear of being alone? Does it matter? Many believe I need new friends. That is definitely something I am considering.
The good thing with all this is my wife is very supportive with what I am about to achieve. We are not talking gobs and gobs of wealth, but in 5-7 years time we will be very very comfortable. Between her job and my endeavors and living in a poverty stricken area in Maine, we could be living next to Stephen King in another decade. :smxF:
I know it's just fear and it's normal, but I don't have anyone really to discuss this with other than my fastlane friends on this forum... So there I have vented. If all you do is reply and say 'chill out dude' or 'get a grip man' then it will probably help a lot more than you think.
Back to my morning coffee... :coffee:
