Hey community, I’m currently at a mental crossroads in my professional journey, and I’d love to hear your advice.
I’m 26 years old and have been working in the online world since 2018. For almost four years now, I’ve been working at my current agency from 8a-5p. Soon, I’ll be moving into my own house, which brings new financial responsibilities, including plans to marry my girlfriend.
I’ve always believed in diversification to avoid getting left behind. Over the years, I’ve tried many side projects but haven’t found success—either due to a lack of focus or not feeling truly passionate about them.
My skill set is quite solid: I’m a UI designer and WordPress developer. I can handle everything technical for a website, including SEO, paid ADS, Analytics and Take decisions on marketing. My current job is stable and well-paid since I work remotely for a US-based company while living in LATAM, which gives me a great income in comparison. However, if I were to lose my job, I’d be left without income until I find another opportunity.
About two months ago, I started learning iOS development as a way to diversify my skills and monetize them. So far, I’ve launched three simple calculator apps on the App Store, but none have surpassed 50 downloads. I understand that it’s a long process, but here’s where I feel conflicted.
Should I continue pursuing iOS development from scratch, despite the long learning curve? Or should I focus on leveraging my existing skills—such as freelancing, building SaaS products, or learning PHP to develop WordPress plugins?
I’m torn between two paths:
I love my current job and don’t want to quit, but I’d love to have something of my own on the side that brings financial security and growth.
What would you do in my situation? Any advice or insights from those who have been through similar crossroads would be greatly appreciated!

I’m torn between two paths:
- Deepen my current expertise – Master what I already know and take my skills to the next level by offering specialized services, potentially creating a productized service or a scalable business.
- Continue iOS development – Even though it's a longer journey, it could open new doors in the future.
I love my current job and don’t want to quit, but I’d love to have something of my own on the side that brings financial security and growth.
