Hi everyone,
Thought it was about time I opened up a progress thread about my new business venture (4months old), the business revolves around importing a product and selling it within the building industry.
Whats happened over the past 4 months?
-Research, Research, Research
I have spent countless hours researching my product and finding the best supplier for it, there are a huge number of people who produce this product and to the untrained eye they all look very similar so this part of the project has been huge as it is the difference between needing to replace everyones product 3-5 years down the track or having many happy customers for years and years.
-Paperwork
This is probably one of the most frustrating tasks, Setting up a company name, logo, bank accounts, registering for tax, securing part finance, purchasing domain etc.
-Waiting
Needing to wait for my container to arrive into the country. Extremely exciting but when it did arrive you always realise you have forgotten one or two things. Unforseen import costs, storage facility not being as ideal as you thought. Just stuff you have to work through as it comes.
-Website
This was a battle for me but it is now finally done and I am happy with the outcome!
-Marketing
This is where I am up to now that the website is up and running and I have product in stock. My business partner met a good connection the other night so we have a meeting set up for this afternoon. This person owns several print companies and has excellent design and marketing skills. He is going to present us with what he believes is the best way to market the product, create brochures, sample packs etc.
-Sales
Sales have been slow but we have not been ready to market yet! We have sold 3 so far of varying quantities and have a preferred supply agreement with a large housing company for our product.
Exciting to say the least but still a lot of stress and uncertainty around the business but I am remaining confident and up beat. I know this has been rather vague but feel free to ask any questions you might have and I will be more than happy to help if I can.
