Hi All,
This is an awesome forum with some really great people. Thank y'all for everything you have shared.
It took me a little while and quite a bit of research but I believe I have found a great niche product and I plan to share my Jouney in this thread. This is my first attempt at selling a product. I've read a ton of books, posts, threads, etc... And to be quite frank - I am sick of it. I feel my future success will benefit more by just doing versus more and more reading. Even if this first venture fails, the education and practical experience I gain will be priceless.
I do not wish to disclose the product just yet. Eventually I will share all of the details. For now, let's just use similar but fictitious product. We'll call it skin coloring. This product is fairly new and by all accounts it is very trendy at this time. This leads to my first question: when dealing with a trendy product how do you know / research it's longevity?
The product itself can be self applied or professional applied(think day spa). Currently, once it is applied the person must remain stationary while the product activates(20 minutes). Meaning really all one can do is chill and watch tv (it's not even practical to use an iPad or read a book). The app that we are very close to developing will allow a person to move around freely with very limited restrictions to any of their desired motions.
Obviously my first goal is to complete the development and that goal is set for the end of sept 2012. It's a pretty aggressive goal since I currently work full time in a management / leadership position and log in about 55 hrs / wk. however, I do manage a few days off a week to pursue this goal.
I have a few more questions and I realize one of these may be entirely too broad but...what are some actions I should be engaging in during development? Sorry if this too broad and a rookie type question. Should I be worrying about website development / presence this early in the game? How do I go about testing my product? Obviously friend and family will work but what about getting product certified or approved by professional and other organizations?
I am also using the brush cover and ecommerce threads as general templates (thanks OP's and all others in those threads).
Well I've got a ton more q's and helluva lot of work to do. Thanks for reading and hopefully participating in this thread and our growth. I plan to share every step, failure, and success.
