Hi Fastlaners,
I'm Michael, another ignorant-to-life youngster looking to speed down the fastlane to freedom and glory through global monopolisation, oops...I mean value-giving. I've joined you guys here on the forum after gaining tremendous value from it recently (and opening several eyes to certain realities). So thank you.
Following the last 18 months of failed ventures (kindle publishing, online coaching etc) and reading everything by "famous" internet marketers and entrepreneurial guides such as Ramit Sethi, Amy Porterfield, Pat Flynn and the likes (they literally filled my inbox 10x per day, I've since unsubbed to regain some mental clarity from all the noise) I'm seeking like minded folks.
Also I couldn't help shake the feeling that some of these people are the "Gurus" MJ cites in the book -- Those who preach but don't practice, but simply market "how to market", without having marketed anything but their own "ability to market". *Insert inception cliche*
I won't drag on now, but to the point (someone correct me if asking for help is rude in a first post, if so I apologise). I'm building a property search portal much like zoopla or rightmove, but niched down in a field they don't cover but with enough potential for large scale (meets all the CENTS criteria).
Such a site requires the presence of both agents/landlords and prospective tenants. Normally these sites work by charging say $10/month per listing to the agents/landlords for access to tenant traffic. The problem is this, which comes first to attract the other. Do I market to tenants first to attract agents/landlords (but with little/no properties listed initially), or do I offer a free until significant tenant traffic (no risk to agents) model where they list their properties for free up until a certain level of traffic is sustained? Since they won't pay for listings without traffic. Or both?
Which comes first, the chicken or the egg?
Apologies for the long winded opener, but I'd appreciate a slither of help from anyone more experienced than I (probably 99% of you).
Thanks in advance.
