With the awesome amount of new users showing up every day, I think it's time that we have a comprehensive FAQ/things to consider, for using the fastlane forum.
Editing Your Profile
Once you log in, go to the top right corner of the homepage to "settings". Click on that.
Then, along the left hand side of the page you will see "My settings" with a list of various things that you can edit, including your profile picture, your avatar, your signature, and your email and password that you used to sign up with.
Getting Speed/Likes
Speed is a fun way to build your credibility on the fastlane forum. When another user sees value in a post that you've made, they have the option to either "like" your post or "speed" your post. You can do the same to them.
Checking Your Speed Level
There are two ways to check who gave you speed, and on what posts.
The easiest is to go to the top right side of the page (once logged in), and click on 'Settings'.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page where you will find 'Latest Reputation Received'. Bellow that is a list of all the most recent posts that you've made in which people have given you speed.
Sometimes, but not always, users choose to leave comments as well. They will all be there.
The second way to check your speed is to go to individual posts that you've made, and click on the "Speed this Post" button. You can't give yourself speed, so the system will show you if anyone else gave you speed for that particular post that you made.
Here's an example of one of mine;
Your reputation on this post is Somewhat Positive.

You have 2386 Reputation point(s).
Before Starting A New Thread Consider This!
A lot of times, many new users start a thread about a topic that has already been covered in great detail in the past.
If you have a question, use the search function, located near the top right side of the homepage. (You can also used the 'advanced' search function located directly underneath for a more accurate search).
If you see that your question/topic has not yet been discussed, or has not been discussed sufficiently, feel free to start a new thread!
Posting an Introduction
Posting an introduction in the Introduction section is not required, but is very helpful and appreciated by all of the forum members. Why?
Because by posting an introduction with a brief history of yourself and your pursuits, we are better able to provide you with advice to help you further advance towards your goals.
Only Posting One Line Answers
Usage of the forum is a two-way relationship. Be sure to provide as much value as you can to the forum. You might not think you have a lot to contribute in your current life state, but that couldn't be farther from the truth.
Everyone on this forum is in a never ending pursuit of knowledge. EVERYONE has something of value to contribute. :smxF:
Consistently posting one line answers is also the calling card of a spammer, and could result in an unnecessary ban. :nonod:
READ THE ENTIRE THREAD BEFORE POSTING A REPLY
I can't tell you how many times people post replies into threads that they've obviously not even read.
Usually, this means that the person ends up parroting what another user already said, or that the person replying has not understood the purpose of the thread, and replies solely based on the title of the thread.
If you happen to reply in a thread that is 20 pages long, then obviously you don't have to read EVERY page if you don't want to, (but you still should).
If however, the thread is a measly 6 replies long, read it in its entirety before replying!
Note
It's understandable that english may not be your first language. That's no problem. Do your best to use punctuation, and spell to the best of your ability.
Don't forget to space out your posts into paragraphs. It's very difficult for most people to read large blocks of test with no punctuation and poor spelling.
For example, this;

Conclusion
No question is dumb, and no goal is too big! Welcome to the forum, and I hope you stick around. You're guaranteed to learn something!
