I have always had a fastlane mindset, yet Ive never really known anyone with the same mindset as myself.
Friends and family just doesnt understand... they are all sold on the 9-5 mentality - I know this isnt the life for me. I cant completely blame them for thinking I should just stick to the 9-5, afterall I have sort of paved my way into that lifestyle ...
For instance, Ive always been an A student, got multiple full scholarships for college, got my degree in Electrical Engineering, recieved numerous academic and engineering accolades over the years as a student, have worked internships with the best government agencies in the business, and Im now working as a Project Lead for a Department of Defense Government contractor (youngest employee by about 10 years of everyone in the company, also the only black guy lol...or should I say jamaican [very rare for what i do]). So this all translate to me going to work everyday to my 9-5 because I have set my self up with a good job and a good salary and in a position most people coming fresh out of college could only dream of (Graduated Saturday May 19 2012, started first day on the job on Monday May 21).
Though this is all great, everyone looks at me as the guy who will make it into this corporate world and look past the fact that my heart is more focused on my fastlane ventures. A first generation college graduate, no1 sees why I want to be an entrepreneur which really irks me.
Basically, Im just saying that I wish I had a friend/family like-minded to talk to (only my mom is understanding sometimes).
To this point, Ive always gone about doing my businesses with out the need for validation or encouragement from anyone. And It was never troubling to me before, All I needed was confidence in myself and the drive to know that I will make it successful.
But now as I am currently working on my biggest project and it feels as if I need this validation. Some sort of encouragement when things dont go my way which Im sure it will eventually in one way or another.
Sigh... well anyways, just felt like sharing this... getting ready to leave work to go work on my path to the fastlane...
