Hey guys , I've been lurking here on the FL for quite some time. Never did a intro or Anything like that , but I've decided it's time to quit lurking and become active!
My story : (feel free to skip to the end where I ask a question if you'd like )
I'm 22 yrs old next week ! Just last summer I had to drop out of engineering school and I became homeless also . I slept in my car and couch surfed from last April to last August . So to escape my situation I learned a skill (truck driving ) that was in demand . I got hired on with swift transportation for over the road driving (a job and a place to sleep all at once ! How bout that ! )
I realized that even though the money was decent (went from making 0k to 40k) that Although the truck was my form of safe haven and shelter I realized that it would also become my prison, because I was gone 24/7 therefore I could never be more than what I was doing currently if continue on this path .
So I applied for another trucking job (one that I was vastly under qualified for, but I used some of my sales experience to do a good interview ) that would have me home more often and pay me more , hence the 70k salary .
So now I am home everyday I only work 4 days a week(off fri-sun) and I'm home during most of the afternoon due to my shifts starting early morning 3-4 am to 1-2 pm .
So I now have plenty of time to start my fast lane journey . Even though with my new salary is considered "comfortable living " I can't see myself working for someone else the rest of my life while hoping for a good retirement . I can't really describe the feeling I have , but i have sort of like a omnipresent pressure that I feel because I know that major things in my life and not punching someone's clock (firm believer in that time=money is a bad equation ) and living what the bottom %99 call a "good life " . I don't want to finish my engineering degree because ultimately I'll be doing the same thing (working for someone else ) while also going into debt . I like being young and debt free right now haha
End of my story
my current issue is right now I have a form of paralysis. Which comes from knowing the sky is the limit . So many options and so many ways to go fast lane and make money . However Im not looking to get rich tomorrow. I want to start something or a skill (one that can lead me to my own business one day ) and get really good at it . So I was hoping you guys could tell me a bit of what you guys do and maybe I can get a general sense of direction that way . So whether you're a copywriter (seems pretty popular around here , is it really that good ?) , in real estate , or sell buttons on Amazon LOL (ecommerce) I'd be really interested to hear about it and how you got started etc etc Thanks !
