Hello
The purpose of this post is to voice some of what has recently been running rather rapidly in my mind and the plans (educational and financial) that I would hope to see happen for myself.
First of all, a little about me is that I am much younger than most of you all on this forum so forgive me if this post becomes a nostalgic reminder to you of your own generally naive youth. I know and am reminded every day that there is so much more for me to learn in all things. Hopefully, I can live a good, healthy, and happy life while I make these mistakes. I also recently moved to a quiet little suburb in Southern California from the Phoenix Arizona Area. So far I'm really enjoying it and have no complaints.
The business and work related part of my life so far has included a few very low budget, low key ventures that gave me some good, solid sales and promotional skills that I continue to use today. One such project consisted of my friend and I painting local houses addresses to the sidewalk which allowed the address to be identified by emergency police/fire vehicles or anyone else faster and with less effort. I found quickly that this wasn't nearly as easy as having a safe and secure bi-weekly pay check but it had its rewards. Besides these small and (let's be honest) hopeless efforts, I was compelled to create a photography based website where I was able to create and publish information on the subject to the public for free. Income would be generated primarily though advertising and also affiliate marketing programs. I managed to create a good amount of inventory before designing and implementing the website. Overall, this was another effort that I cannot say was a success. Although this gave me more experience in business and entrepreneurship, it was simply not well thought out and there wasn't a demand. Not to mention the market was highly saturated with competition (as most online markets and industries online today are).
As I said before, I am still quite young, which is why this is the end of my store as of present. My wish is that I will continue to progress and adapt until I have found the right balance I need to achieve success on one level or another.
My current dilemma is this: I am at the point where I need to make a decision of what is the best path for me to take with my life. More specifically, how I should go about trying to continue my education to the college level without causing my entrepreneurial ambitions to diminish. I want to go to college and most likely get an M.B.A. It's something I could certainly do well to go with and I have always enjoyed learning (especially about business related matters), hence, why I also enjoy this forum.
Unfortunately, I don't see my dreams and hopes of creating something from nothing and contributing to the great world of business coming true while also pursuing a college degree. The time balance is just one issue here. However, going to college for an M.B.A. would present wonderful opportunities for myself.
On the other hand, if I decide to concentrate more on creating a successful business, I am sacrificing not only the potential opportunities of an M.B.A., but also risking my time and effort for nothing. The latter seems the most destined for failure to me if I am to continue approaching business ideas the way I have approached them in the past.
Every day, I become more aware of how dire it is to focus and feel the need to never stop until I am finally successful but the longer I have to wait for that time, the more it seems like a hopeless fallacy.
I apologize for the length of this post and hope that I haven't come off as another young stereotypical overly ambitions runt who's only filled my head with ideas of grandeur... Also, I am usually very reluctant to post anything remotely regarding my personal life so this is not a common thing at all for me to be doing, but given my situation, I feel it is necessary.
I'd deeply appreciate anyone who takes the time to share an idea or two about what path might be the best for me based on their own experience. The plan is to get some new and fresh thoughts flowing based on ideas from the experienced and skilled individuals who frequent this forum so I can get that fire back inside me.
Thanks to all in advance.
Sincerely,
Brandon
