Hello Fastlane Forum!
I have been struggling lately with staying on track to become a fastlaner. In my head I know I want to, but in my actions I have been doing nothing but exemplifying the slowlane. I have also been debating starting a progress thread just because I think no one really cares. However after reading multiple threads today about how it's easier when you stop caring what other people think, here we go.
On the tail end of my electrical career I created exbeersnob.com . I decided I wanted to get into the beer distribution business and figured that a good gateway into an industry would be to start a blog. The idea behind exbeersnob.com is to expand your knowledge of beer, try everything, develop your pallet etc.
I created this website via a youtube tutorial of wordpress, and another tutorial on hosting. I know that in it's current state my website is less that desirable which is why I will be reaching out to a professional.
My goal is to create a hub of beer knowledge from book reviews, to brewing advice, to up coming beers and breweries. Basically I want to be recognized as an authority on beer. I have plans on writing a book, developing a bar game based upon beer trivia, and creating gift boxes by partnering with popular breweries.
Where I'm at today:
Currently my website gets an average of 19 users per day, 22 sessions per day, and a bounce rate of 88.05%. I have a twitter account with 38 followers and that's about it.
I have been taken on as a freelance writer with a local company that specializes in the local beer scene and have been given my first assignment.
At this point I am ready to elevate things, with minimal effort I have been able to create what I have. I feel like if putting in this little effort gave me this I can only imagine what will happen when I really go for it.
Current Goals:
Attain 500 Twitter/Instagram followers by December 31st 2015
Have my blog redesigned by a professional
Start generating 1 blog post per week
Have 6 published articles via other websites/publications (freelance writing)
Finish development of my card game
I think these goals are very obtainable and that I can start generating income by the end of the year.
