My name is Sean. I'm a software developer from South Africa.
I read Millionaire Fastlane . It not so much opened my eyes to the fallacy of the school-college-job formula; rather it gave a voice to my nagging concerns that I always knew this path to be a scam. As well intentioned as my parents and colleagues are, they only encourage this way because they know no other way. And I now know the fastlane and am determined to win.
My situation is tricky. I have a wonderful job and actually a great salary objectively, around $8000 a month, but we have a big family with lots of kids and although we do live modestly, ie no sports cars being financed MJ , just basic expenses of home, medical and school fees just shoot us straight in the gutter. And the further disempowering uncontrollable limited leverage of not even knowing if I will get any raise, and the inhumane groveling to the boss for a 10% increase when inflation at 15% corrodes it before it even enters my bank account, well I realised something has to change.
But I still need the job or else my family doesn't eat and has nowhere to live.
So I am pushing projects in my spare time. But only projects that live up to the CENTS framework because I was making lots more money but burning out working 12 hour days.
I also side hustle with this American guy but he paid per hour. Eventually after not caring if I got that extra income because it was destroying my life, I said, I am not working per hour anymore. You can send me a batch of.work and I will quote for it. And miraculously he was like, yeah ok.
And overnight I turned a $55 per hour gig into small sprint projects I can clean up in around 45 minutes (I am actually good at what I do) and earn effective hourly rates of $200 to $400 depending on the quality of my negotiation skills! And yes I have read Don't Split the Difference.
I developed a Udemy course that crystallizes my expertise in coding to empower non tech workers to learn fundamentals and automate work processes where they retain full control. I have had one real sale so far. It feels good to have a money tree.
I have also self published a Sci fi fiction called Soul Emulation. Search it on Amazon.com, and buy an ebook copy!
I am also working on a non fiction book.
I have a YouTube channel Purple Piano Guy, expressing my love for.music and self learning and trying to inspire others.
This has evolved to something called The Purple Minute, a series of minute long clips about life, growth and a dash of fun, that I post on YouTube and linkedin
And these innovations have led to my love child Scriptworthy which is my business model:
Corporate training to empower the regular Microsoft excel worker to take control of his or her time and dominate mundane repetitive tasks.
I set into motion all these projects since January 2025. I would love to work with you all on how best to monetize. Also to learn from anyone in my situation who needs to build a business but can't right not lose his salary.
