One of the first items discussed in the book is the concept of hiring the right people. Putting them into the right seats on the bus. Getting the wrong people off the bus.
When it comes to the "right people" many of the leaders that were studied seemed to have a philosophy that you hire for character rather than any specific skill set. Skills can be learned - while some other things can not.
One of the examples I enjoyed from the book was a veteran that had been a POW TWICE and escaped TWICE. The leaders of the company said that any man that can escape from his enemies twice can survive in the business world.
If you needed to hire great people, and you were not going to consider any specific skill set, what would you look for in an employee?
