* Environment: How can we help promote a cleaner and more sustainable global ecosystem?
* Health: How can we help individuals lead longer, healthier lives?
* Education: How can we help more people get more access to better education?
* Shelter: How can we help ensure that everyone has a safe place to live?
* Everything else: Sometimes the best ideas don't fit into any category at
Being an idea guy, this challenge appeals to me. Is any one else thinking of participating?
Let me put this out to the "brain trust" here
Focusing on domestic issues only, and in general terms, help me brainstorm a general direction to focus my thinking. Anything goes; initially, I'm not looking for quality, just quantity. Everything else will fall into place when I start deep diving...Keep in mind, time is of the essence.

Some initial ideas...
* Vacant and abandoned lots in cities + major increase in food prices = farming co-ops in neighborhoods providing affordable food. (Ok a little specific here, and I think this is currently being done, but this can be further explored).
* Large inventory of foreclosed houses - how can they be put to good use?
* Entrepreneurship initiatives in school - Something better than the Junior Achievement model?
