Let's say I find a house on the MLS:
Dynamic features include a database property search with full color photographs of listings in Napa County.

A quick zillow check shows it's in a decent neighborhood as far as prop values go:

Then I go to google maps, and hit "Street view"

Looking at street view, I navigate around until I see the exact same house as the MLS photo.
(I attempted to get screen shots to show this, but all I captured was a black box. Sorry)
Then, I rotate the view to look down the street, to see what kind of neighborhood it is.
Lastly, I rotate to see what the view is across the street (in other words, what the house for sale looks at).
Pretty amazing stuff. Takes me about 4-6 minutes to virtually "visit" a property, to see what the neighborhood is like.
Note that these are GROUND LEVEL- not satellite - shots-- as if you were walking down the street and took a photo.
Note also that google's satellite (overhead) maps can show the locations of nearby parks, big freeways, and--- perhaps most important-- large shopping centers or huge apt complexes.
Has anyone else used this for a first step when scouting properties?

PS Yes, I realize that not all communities have google street maps. But there has been a dramatic increase in this database in our area just in the past 6 months. I'm guessing this is going to continue.
