Hi folks, wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself.
My name is JT Rigsby (Or Thom if we get to meet in person) and I'm originally from and currently living near Huntsville Alabama. I have moved around quite a bit, even lived in Germany for a few years, but now I'm back at the home base, and my feet are beginning to itch again!
Professionally, I've done lots of things for lots of different types of companies, albeit most of the time it has something to do with computers. Right now I'm working for a giant company managing a group of ipad developers.
Over my working life everything I've ever done has seemed to lead me to starting my own business, I've had many. Two of them were successful... I sold one and lost another one in a very ugly business divorce. As for the rest, most have just died a quiet death, but a couple have led to very difficult times emotionally and financially. One in particular was a franchise (we bought) that violated the first rule of CENTS. That's when I learned, the hard way, that's it is infinitely easier to sell what people want to buy than to convince them they need it!
So I got the job I have now because I needed a break, I was mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted. It's the first job I've had in 10 years and its hard. The work isn't hard, but it is just as exhausting to watch them run this business the wrong way. They've spent millions and years developing a product and can't sell it (it violates at least N and S, probably T).
So I emerged myself in my "side projects" that we're generally Internet Marketing plays. Made money, yes, but holy crap what a time suck! So I read and explore and study, and then I heard MJ do an interview on the Eventual Millionaire podcast (worth subscribing to if you haven't already). Got the book on my kindle and read it in about three days! And let me tell you, it was very hard to not skip straight to "the good stuff" but every time I was tempted, I read something that described me! Long read but definitely worth it!
Anyway, the book has re-energized me to get off my duff and kick things back into high gear. My endgame is time freedom pure and simple. I'm not sure ill ever be able to "retire" so I've decided that my goal is to make work optional, have time to spend with kids, grand kids, family and friends, where I want, when I want. And if a good opportunity comes along, then take it. That's my goal anyway and I plan to share progress along that path with you guys and gals here.
