Hello everybody,
My name is Tiago, born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil. I'll briefly share my story so you guys can know my past, background and so on.
When I was a teen, I was already an aspiring entrepreneur. Way before this entrepreneurship fad led by unicorns, I was already into coding and making reasonably good money (for a teen, obviously) by selling Excel user-interfaces based on VBA for small businesses and teaching rich kids how to code.
Unfortunately, my parents didn't perceive this behaviour well. The competition to enter in good universities in Brazil were tough and my businesses didn't nothing bad to me, except that were taking all my attention from my grades. As many of us here have already believed, I bought what they were saying and, being naive as I was, I decided that I would follow the common track (also known as slow lane).
Fast-forward, I did everything right to remain in the slow lane. Entered a local elite (and expensive) university, had a good GPA and successfully landed jobs in local franchises of USA's biggest investment banks (if you are curious, you can find me on LinkedIn – nothing to hide).
However, after two years working in finance, I have let myself down. I strongly believe in my own capabilities and, apart from the money (which investment banks probably classified a gold-standard for the slow lane), I realised that although I was working 16hr/day, I was learning mostly anything. In fact, I felt that I was addicted to my monthly payment and was spending it all in my short free time between my work-sleep-repeat routine.
After getting tackled by corporate politics, I've decided that I'll follow my entrepreneurial spirit and join the fast-lane. Recently, a friend of mine in a similar situation have shown me the book and after reading it I immediately felt that only good things could happen If I joined such savvy community.
So here I am. Thanks for your attention and wish you all the best.
