I've gotten The Millionaire Fastlane just last week and am halfway through it. I just had to join because my brain has exploded. I would like to be a contributor here for the following reasons, besides the obvious:
The book describes being prescribed medication for high cholesterol as treating the symptom but ignoring the problem. My entire life I have been irritated by this. I don't want to mask symptoms, I want to fix problems, but we live in world of people who mask symptoms and whine about problems.
The book describes people as being in the place they are at because of their own personal choices. Not just one choice, but a compilation of choices. I get it, but it's not something you can explain to most people.
They say they're tired all the time but in the same sentence discuss all kinds of extra-curricular activities they participate in on a weekly basis and if you dare suggest they cut some activities so as not be so overbooked all the time, they dismiss what you're saying, sometimes rudely, because for God's sake, they can't possibly have any control over their own choices, or else they don't even realize they're making a choice.
The book describes low wage workers as being paid low wages due to, once again, their own choices. I believe the example used is Wal-mart but currently talked about mainstream, it's fast food workers. Same thing.
I cringe when I hear about "walk-outs" and "protests" and "demands" to be paid more in the fast food industry. You want to make more money? Get a different job. Aren't skilled enough? Learn something. It's free. We have the internet. There is no excuse. But again, the majority of people just don't get it because they are so consumed with blaming their bad childhood, their spouse, their boss, or "the man."
Knowing this forum exists, I can only be disappointed that I'm just now finding out about it and didn't join in years ago. I can't tell you what it means to be able to find a group of people that might think like me, understand and see things like I do, and I know plenty here do, because we all came for the same reasons: we read the book. I'm so tired of being surrounded by people who don't, won't, or can't get it.
Here is what I can contribute, though in a small way:
I'm self published on Amazon with 19 e-books. This is currently my fastlane albeit a very small one (a few thousand per month). I'm amazed and impressed with @Held for Ransom's thread on self-publishing. A wealth of information even for someone already in the game, I've gotten some ideas there to increase my revenue. I can answer questions regarding KDP, but will not name my titles for obvious reasons, and I read @MJ DeMarco's warning against doing so.
I've been on eBay since 2003 and have Powerseller and Top Rated status. I currently do not import products but after reading @Ecom man's thread, I'm going to try. I can answer questions regarding eBay. 11 years is a long experience even without trying imports.
I've been on Etsy since 2013. That's not long, but I'm offering that up because I haven't seen an Etsy expert thread yet. If there is one, please feel free to let me know where it's hiding. My focus on Etsy has been to create "Instant Download" listings which once created, sell over and over again. I'll answer questions about Etsy, if asked. Etsy information still seems thin online.
If you made it this far, well, thanks for reading. I hope to become a valuable contributor here and already feel like I owe everyone just from the couple of threads I've read.
