I thought I take two steps back and formally introduce myself to this awesome forum. My apologies for posting a few times prior to this intro.
I've always had a desire to control my own destiny, yet have worked various jobs from construction to flight attendant. Traveled extensively, always looking for a business opportunity. Strange how so many times we are looking for greener pastures when opportunities are right in our back yard. A successful friend of mine once told me that its not the job but the opportunities in the job. "Use your job to create your own business opportunity." Luckily, I found a need and filled it.
In 2000 I was working construction and began to realize the possibilities that the internet opened up and decided to develop a website, though I didn't know how to turn on a computor, let alone build a website. Bought a Dummies book "Websites for Dummies"
(that was me! I remember it took me three days to figure out what reboot my PC meant. Duh, kick the computor???)
After spending 3 months trying to apply what I read and after many trials and errors, we finally went live with a niche market ecommerce website. I still remember that first sale! I just couldn't believe someone was ordering a t shirt from a website that I built from scratch with absolutely no prior experience!
Now, years later with the internets premier website in our niche market we have a great little business.
We also opened a constuction safety store in 2006 and another website around the same time,
In 2008 we started our own wholesale tool and leather brand and just sealed a deal with a major distributor in Canada. Its crazy, because my strength isn't developing business but in the creative area of what sells well, I believe similar to Vigilantes.
Currently reading MJ's book and working on simplifying our processes so that I don't have to be so involved. That is what I feel I can gain the most from this forum and hopefully encourage others at the same time to follow their dreams and pursue their passions.
