Hello all,
My name is Sam I live in Leicester, UK. I am 27 years old. I graduated from university when I was 22 after studying ICT and my first job that I did for three and a half years involved proving IT support for local primary schools. The pay was abysmal considering the amount of responsibility I had and I had to move back in with my mum, which was difficult after being away at Uni but I kept telling myself it's my first job so it's ok, when in reality I think three and a half years was far too long in a job like that. I ran out of money half way through the month, could not afford to do my driving lessons and get a car, as I had student debt too and had to take pay day loans, which was pretty much my reality throughout my time there. The only positive aspect I can take form that job is I gained a lot of practical experience.
A turning point came when a lady friend I was extremely interested in ended things with me and started dating a close friend of mine who had a mroe exciting job in London. As you can imagine this emotionally tore me apart and made me feel incredibly inferior and a failure as a man. It also brought back my feelings of being worthless during my school days when I was bullied due to being partially deaf at the time. Anyway without dwelling on the negative I woke up, quit that job and decided I needed to man up and take risks.
I started offering web design services in my local area (I had always wanted to start a business). I picked up a a couple of clients but nothing extraordinary came of it, needless to say I ran out of money fast. The last thing I wanted to do was to go back to a permenent position working for the man but I needed money and realised sarting a business will take time and is rather difficult without capital, so I looked into contracting. I then started a limited company and am currently contracting for a major fortune 500 company but knowing as it's a contract I know I don't have to suffer the monotony of being here forever. I am also actively building my web deisgn business on the side and completely reconfigured things. Things are looking up, I'm now in a happy relationship, about to buy a new Audi A1 and may well be getting on the property ladder soon, of which I will rent out at first.
I know that was a long rant guys but anyway feel free to check out my business developments, whcih I will post about in the appropriate areas.
