I own a business in the green industry (Yard maintenance, Lawn fertilization, Mosquito Defense). Inspired by @Johnny boy to start it 3 years ago.
Currently just shy of $500,000 per year in recurring revenue (95% recurring)
Over the next 4 months (April - August) I plan to grown the business from $500k to 1.5 Million - 2 Million in annual recurring revenue
We work year round, but majority of leads come in from April - August
My plan to scale the business:
15 Person Door to Door Commission-based team (currently 2 recruits so far) Average D2D rep can do $100k in contracts in 4 months, Golden Door Rep does $300k Plus in contracts in 4 months
Max out Ad Budgets on Social Media & Search Platforms assuming positive ROI each channel ( Google Search, Meta, Tick Tok)
Post 1 video of content a week....ideally a day
Automated Quoting Feature Installed on Website (quoting 24/7)
Office Staffed with Remote Sales VAs (still hiring)..I can't have my customer service do sales
I can reach my revenue goal with only a 15 person D2D team. Last year a local pest control company went from $0 in $3 million In ARR in 4 months with a 23 person D2D team in one of their new locations.
Since I am new to D2D sales, I will use a holistic approach (social media, D2D, Content) to reach my rev goal.
D2D has been the hardest skill to learn.... today, I sat in the truck for 2 hours trying to hype myself up to knock the 30 doors.....Afterwards I get this weird "high" after I finish my knocking
My D2D training regiment so far:
Training with a local Pest control D2D job (once a week)
Currently knocking 30 doors a day (still refining my script)
Hired a D2D Consultant (kinda of useless so far)
Role playing for 2 hours in the morning before I go out to knock
Funding: So far I have mostly used the profits of the business to fund growth. Going forward, I will be also be using SBA and business lines of credit to fund growth. Additionally, I have reduced my salary to $9,000 per month to leave more money in the business. I wish I could reduce my salary to $1 per month, but I have mortgage and small kids.
My Ultimate Goal: Grow this to about $2 million per year. Use the cashflow & experience from this biz to start a business with higher enterprise multiples in a trending industry. Although, I do get private equity hit me up every couple of months asking if I want to sell...that might be an option.
