OK, I'm volunteering at a charity shop that sells donated clothes, CDs, books. I work there part-time and earn nothing. But I see some things that could be changed and that should improve sales. So I'm thinking about going to manager with suggestions. I think this could be my chance for promotion (I'd be better off working at this job even part time if it was paid, then at what I do now for a living).

My suggestions:

1. Discounts - they don't offer discounts and sell items quite expensively. I think that is not good for a charity shop and I really think discounts (up to 30 percent) would really add value to clients and they would buy more and be more happy. Happier clients means more returning customers, which in return means more revenue. I'd keep the prices bit high so that we could give the discount as often as we can. I think psychological factor of actually getting a discount, even a small one, is big and makes people remember the shop and maybe spread positive word about it.

2. Blog about what the shop actually does with money earned - post everything about what the shop does. Post pictures from the countries it helps, things it buys, etc. This would be very transparent and should attract more trust and more revenue (eventually).

3. Partner up with other charity organization - I have one exact company in mind that could partner up with my shop and in exchange get discount for it's people (it gives people who receive help from government a place to live). My shop would get new customers and that would impact the brand positively.

4. Small advertising campaigns and Give-Aways - I'd organize or suggest give-away's, other events which would attract new clients and revenue.

5. Lottery - For example, anyone who donates 5 things to the shop gets a lottery ticket and at the end of the month one of them would win a prize of lets say 1000 euros.

Now, these are my ideas for improvement of the shop, in return, I'd like to be able to earn money from it and work there as a paid employee. No need for big titles, etc.

Whatcha think guys? Good plan? Bad scam?
