the past
I just got 25 yrs old and - also thanks to The Fastlane Millionaire - I am way more optimistic about the future as I was one year ago. I am currently studying engineering and despite surprisingly good grades, I think it sucks. Not the studies, but the engineering jobs that will come after it. I'm in my second 'global player' company as intern/working student and most slowlaners would think positive about my straightforward CV.
But I am bored by it. Boring meetings, unnecessary duplication of work, mails by the CEO... you name it!
With every day, on which I forced myself to like that normal 9 to 5 lifestyle and tried to reduce my life to the weekends, I got more depressed.
the present
A few months ago I got in touch with entrepreneurship, attended courses at university and read a few books, but it was MJ DeMarco who kicked me in the arse and convinced the last bit of me that there's definitely a way out of misery.
The last weeks I was doing paperworks to legally conduct trade with the aim to get a few bucks on eBay/Amazon and transform it into a litte, automatic side business. While I not necessarily won't get rich with that, I am mainly seeing it as a real life lesson to learn about economics and legalities and use it as my ramp to the fastlane.
Additionally I want to be able to stick the finger to all those naysayers: "You really don't wanna do this, eh? Think about all that hassle with returns and customs!", "Why exactly should you be the one who is making profit, while my uncle/girlfriend/guinea pig failed with it?" and "I don't get you, with that degree you can get a decent job!".
To be fair, customs and legalities seem to be more pain in the a$$ in the EU than in the US, but there wouldn't be others selling imported stuff in eBay/Amazon, if it's not worth it. 😀
the future
I definitely want to drive the fastlane full time once I graduate and plan to start up something bigger with a friend. I am really excited about the future and have the feeling that one can achieve way more than most people of our society believe (btw: when are you Americans finally travelling to Mars? ).
Aaand I want to greet everyone reading until this last sentence.
