We all have it. Some have it more than others. Some are predisposed (genetically) to it. Left unchecked, stress can lead to sleep loss, hair loss, body fat, heart disease and a host of other health related disorders. These disorders can cut short your most valuable resource... time.
What really sets us apart is how we handle it. How do you deal with unhealthy stress? Better yet, how do you divert it into a positive thing?

What really sets us apart is how we handle it. How do you deal with unhealthy stress? Better yet, how do you divert it into a positive thing?
Some of the things I do:
- Exercise - I find that exercise helps me reduce stress. When I am exercising, I find myself unable to focus on the items that are stressing me. All that pent up energy and angst goes into making myself healthy and strong.
- Massages - My wife and I signed up for Massage Envy. We are mandated to get a massage once a month. I am surprised how great I feel after a deep tissue massage. Its incredibly centering for me.
- Walking the dogs - When I am stressed, I have a hard time sitting still. I need to move around. What better way to utilize that stress than grab a leash and take the pups out? Just seeing their excited faces makes me forget what was stressing me. It feels good to make someone's day like that.
- Alcohol - I used to rely on this a lot more than I do now (thanks mastermind). Two to four glasses of wine a night used to relax me and go great with dinner. I have since cut back on this and reserved it for special occasions (like Thursdays) :smx6: Still, I cannot deny the pleasure a good cocktail at the end of the day brings to my stress level.
- Movies - Sitting in the theatre also sidelines my stress. I get involved in the plot and characters and I am forced to forget my troubles, even if only for a couple hours. Its usually what I need to come out of there feeling recharged and ready to tackle things.
