What's up guys, my name is Denis, I'm 22 old guy living in Poland.
I've read TMF last year and since then I was a 'passive participant' on this forum. Till today.
A bit about my journey:
I always wanted to have something more from my life than a mortgage, new car each 3 years bought with debt and a boring 8 hour job for 40 years.
In the age of 17 I've decided to start my journey to freedom and financial independence. As it turned out I took a bad decision choosing financial markets and trading as a weapon. Started trading with my own savings without experience, lost it of course after few months. Naive and stupid move. Jumped in again in the age of 19, trying to quantitate my 'edge' in the market with statistics and develop new psychological habits.
I finished my secondary school in the age of 20 and went to college, started to live on my own in a big city spending my savings to study (I've spent more time on trading and developing than studying to be honest) and pay bills. After three months in college I get hired in a prop trading company. Decided to drop out of college and join their office. Small group of traders, about 9 guys when I joined them.
Man, that was exciting! I was the youngest guy to join the team! What an opportunity to gain life time experience, learn a whole lot from the older guys and be a trading shark in the future!
I was in trance. Literally. It was my freakin dream from the last couple of years. Now it's only a matter of time and effort and I'll start making some greens!
Hard work begun. It was normal for me to sit in the office for 10 hours daily, sometimes 12. Sometimes on the weekends. I knew my hard work will bring benefits to me, it's just a matter of time!
Guys started to jump out of our office. One guy each month (on average). After 8 months I was the last man standing. The only guy and the founder.
Spent another year without making a penny. There were only zeros on my bank account now, spent my savings on trying to live somehow in a big city and struggle to finally make some cash.
I knew it's the end. I was done. Left the company as the last person. Everyone else jumped out earlier. (Damn, this post is getting to long)
To short things a bit. I get hired in an engineering company (robotics, automation etc) as a sales engineer. Parallel started learning how to be a front end developer (I had already decent background in VBA and Python since I was using it in trading to gather and analyze whole lot of data). This was a plan to make some additional cash, accumulate it and start building company and real assets.
Grounded legally a company 3 months ago. Helping local companies, building their web presence while still working full time.
Uh, wrote too much here. Don't want to make your overwhelmed so maybe I'll stop now.
In general: I've decided to write this post and tell you my story since the mediocrity around me destroys me from the inside. Can't find people I could talk to and learn from. The 'pain bubble' exploded today. I've decided to be an active participant of TFF community, share my experiences with you guys, since I think they can be valuable to you, as well as learning from the experienced entres right here (what I'm actually doing for quite some time reading the most popular threads).
If you spent time and read this long chunk of content above - thank you (probably made some language errors). I'm really happy to be here and have someone to talk to and learn from.
Cheers,
Denis
