Hello everyone!
I am usually pretty fourm shy but after having a look around the posts and seeing the wonderful community I felt like I had to join in.
I read both of MJ’s books and loved them, the books are blunt, honest and for many people who are stuck they provide a sense of hope and direction for the future.
Ever since I was a very small child I have dreaded the “wake up > work > sleep > repeat until you die” routine, being born quite late in my family, my childhood consisted in watching my parents becoming ill and bitter with stress.
My father hated is job so much he would always violently remind us that we were the reason he had to work and be miserable.
I wont go int any more details than this but you can imagine what sort of troubles that can cause.
This made me realize quite early that school was just a conveyor belt to work and therefore misery. I did all I could to get out as soon as possible ( not proud of it now ) to just study on my own at home and going to very focused classes later on in life.
As a teen I also resisted getting a job at all costs, constantly thinking “there must be a better way, life cant possibly be so miserable” so instead of looking for jobs I would spend my time struggling with depression, searching for alternatives even if my family and peers told me such thing did not exist. I wish I could have read Unscripted at that point in my life.
Luckily I managed to prove them wrong and now enjoy a comfortable, mostly passive income as an artist. I am not rich but I am able to afford a home, healthy food, gym, entertainment and I have tons of time. No clients, no deadlines, no alarm clocks.
To this day my greatest achievement has been to be able to drag both my brother which is also an artist and my boyfriend out of the scripted routine. I am happy every day thinking that they were able to quit a job they hated and was consuming their lives.
The future:
I realize that there is still so much to learn! Reading MJ’s books and coming to the forum made me realize that I know so little, and that there is a whole world out there of people who are incredibly smart, knowledgeable and kind enough to share what they know with others who are just starting out. I hope to be able to keep growing, contribute and hopefully help others on their journey to freedom.
( English is not my first language so sorry if i say anything strange ^^; )
