This book was really cool I thought, thanks again to whoever it was who recommended it to me in a past thread.
Barton Biggs is a very respected, long-time Wall Street veteran, and in the book, he talks a lot about hedge funds and hedge fund managers. I found the whole book to be fascinating as I hope to one day start a hedge fund, Biggs is right, there are definitely some fascinating characters in this industry.
What's even cooler, is he mentions multiple books in it and gives a bibliography in the back, so I have already ordered some of the books he recommends from the library
to expand my knowledge of economic and financial history.
He also talks about the process he went through to start up his hedge fund, he talks about different investment philosophies, etc...in the last chapter, he talks about the life of John Maynard Keynes ("economist, hedge fund manager, and fascinating character," to quote him). He seems to be a big proponent of Keynesian economic theory, which I am not, but nonetheless I found this chapter very interesting, and for futher reading he recommends this big three volume biography on Keynes.
If you have any interest in the hedge fund industry, I definitely recommend this book!
