Hi everyone,
I am 25 years old and just graduated 2 years ago with a degree in biz management with concentration in entrepreneurship. While I learned a LOT in the last 3 semesters of my education, I cannot say I got my money's worth.
After a few menial jobs out of high school, I decided that I would have to find something better. I started playing online poker professionally my sophomore year in college and began making more money than I realized at the time...Looking back, I clearly would have been better off taking time off from school and focusing on poker.
My plan was to play poker part time while finishing my degree, then save enough money to start a business. That plan took an unexpected turn with the passage of the UIGEA, effectively crippling my income drastically.
I have saved quite a bit of that money, but also spent quite a bit more than I should have. I have access to potential investors, I just haven't found an idea that I'm confident enough to ask for their time to pitch it.
I have been researching feasibility of various ideas, and I am beginning to feel like the business climate in the US is not looking too good...at least for the short term. I am now considering leaving the US where I can continue playing poker and pursue business there.
I am very curious as to what other's opinions are about starting a biz in the US vs. foreign country.
I have been reading a lot of good threads on this forum, and I am excited to learn, and hopefully I have some value to add as well!
Thanks for your time, and I hope my intro wasn't too long.
