...and I love my job. Ok, so it's not the ideal situation for an aspiring Fastlaner, but I believe I have a unique situation. A little about me:
I work in IT for an insurance company. Mainly I am a network admin and web-app developer (asp.net MVC for those curious). I've been working with the same group of people since I was 17 and still in high school. I originally met my now boss in 1999 over a failed business venture. After that I just became an employee of one of his companies. Since then, he has reminded me on an almost daily basis "so... have your next million dollar idea yet?" and doesn't let me forget.
Basically, I am surrounded by millionaires (probably 8-10 all within feet of me) that I know on a very personal level. They would love to see me succeed and are even willing to help... as long as I have a great idea.
The nice thing about where I work is that the atmosphere (at least for me) is very entrepreneurial - during any downtime I can work on my own projects or do whatever I could be doing to build a fastlane business. Really I believe I do have an ideal situation which allows me to collect a paycheck and still work on my dream.
I'm not hurting by any means, but my parents are. And I would love nothing more than to tell them "here - now you can retire". That's been my motivation from day 1, and to be honest, I am pissed it's taken me 13 years and still can't do it.
With that said, I have a project that I have been working on for a few months that I believe can be fastlane. I'd like to get an opinion of what I have first, see if there is really a market, and a solid business plan (basics are already down) before I even approach one of my friends with the idea - and possibly funding, if it's even needed. I guess only time will tell (the sooner the better), but I wanted to get the introduction out of the way first.
Oh, and in my spare time, I like to work out, mountain bike, and play drums
Nice to meet you all!
