I'm Michael from Massachusetts, originally Rhode Island. I can't remember exactly how I stumbled on this forum, but it was last year. Forgot about it , and returned recently. I finally purchased Fastlane on my Nook. Was so heartened to hear MJ so eloquently and directly echo one of the conclusions I had come to in my own life ( specifically the insanity of trading 5 days of your limited time for 2.) Of course he opened my mind to possibilities far and beyond anything I had thought possible at my tender age of 45.
I could say I've gone from a sidewalk mindset in my 20's, to a slowlane mindset in my 30's up until about 3 years ago as my health declined from sticking with a stressful job (call center) only because it "paid good" and it was "the responsible thing to do". Yes, 3 therapists and my cardiologist all told me: get another job. Long story short (I know too late for that
) I was dismissed from my job and it probably has added another 10 years to my life. After reading the book, I have hope that although it will not be easy, a better existence is within reach.
Complications? Of course. Bad life decisions of the past have left their financial scars: support arrears debt for my 3 grown children , student loan debt, bad credit, no car, living back at home, no savings.
I haven't yet found any "success stories" of anyone in a situation like mine, so perhaps it will be me !

I was formerly resigned to living out the rest of my life "financially DOA". Now I have the tools to dig out while I'm still relatively young. Second best time to plant an oak tree, right?
