First off hello to everyone and may the Fastlane be with you! (Yep, a lame reference to SW)
This is my first post in this forum, wanted to wait till I finished the book before I introduce myself.
While i'm on the topic of the book, a big THANK YOU to MJ DeMarco for this wonderful piece of literature that can literally change peoples lives if they take it seriously.
About me, i'm a 22 year old business student living somewhere in Europe, soon to be 23 and going through what I call the 23 year old crisis. I've had my parties and fun in the past, had my leisure time, smoked my weed and chilled with friends. But now its the moment I look back and ask myself ''What have I accomplished in the past few years?'' The answer is - almost nothing. Apart from knowledge (i'm an avid reader and research a lot on the internet) i'm still a broke student, who still depends on his single mother to fund his life and study.
I've always been quite critical of the world, a corporate hater but a money lover, I do not look at ''SALE!'' signs as an opportunity but I always analyze what motive is behind that sale, I do not view other shoppers around me as just shoppers, but consumers, and in some extreme cases - Sheepsumers (sheep+consumers).
I've always been sort of aware of the slow-lane, even before I came across the term, and since i've been young the slow-lane is similar to a nightmare in my head. Stuck in a 9-5 job for the rest of my life. NO WAY.
Always been an aspiring person, I want to innovate , create, offer value, be the leader of a new internet startup or a new service. I want to be rich and free. Yet laziness got to me before motivation could, I let my dreams be dreams till now, I had a bitcoin related startup which failed, partly because I did not put nearly as much effort as I should have.
I've decided the time to act is now. Not tomorrow not the next weekend. NOW.
It's time I put my a$$ down and strived to achieve what I dreamed of, and I realize it's a long hard sweat and tear filled road, but it is a road to success and not to a 9-5 lousy retirement 40 year waste of time.
So yea, i'm going to keep this intro short, i'm extremely glad i decided to give this book a go as it enhanced my already existing perceptions and gave me this extra push to go for it and not give up.
Happy to be a part of the aspiring Fastlaners!
One request I have from other members in this forum, if you read this thread and have the time to reply, I'd love to hear from experienced members who are already in the fast lane any type of advice for a young starter like me that is starting his road on the fastlane.
Anything that you wish you told youself when you were at the starting point yourself.
Thanks again for giving me the chance to join this forum and i'm super excited to be a part of this community of people with similar mindsets!
